Outstanding achievements in international trade recognised in Queen’s Award Presentation

The UK uses over 5 million tonnes of plastic each year. It is estimated that 30% of plastic is currently being recovered and recycled.

This figure is expected to significantly increase to over 50% by 2025.

Striving for zero to landfill

By diverting all your plastic waste away from landfill, you can significantly reduce your operational costs.

Plastic recycling from Ward is an effective solution, whatever the volume of waste plastic you produce.

The plastics recycling process.

The scale and variety of polymer types and forms of plastic in the waste stream means that it is more complicated to sort and reprocess plastic compared with other materials.

Most collections have targeted specific plastics, for example bottles, but Ward recycles a variety of different types.

Due to the complex nature of plastics recycling, Ward currently collects plastics as a separate waste stream.

Materials are separated and graded before being sent on for further processing by extruders to create new plastics for re-use.

Improving plastic recycling

There are simple steps you can take to improving your recycling activity and improving your carbon footprint, here are Ward’s top three tips:

  1. Buy products in packaging that can be recycled
  2. Use recycling bins to separate your waste
  3. Buy products that have been made from recyclable materials
