Ward apprentice working on a vehicle

If you are looking to learn while you earn our Apprenticeship Schemes offer great career opportunities at Ward.

We advertise our apprenticeships online but welcome speculative applications for those looking to embark on a career within the metal recycling and waste management industry.

We offer apprenticeships in a variety of specialisms including:

  • Plant Maintenance
  • Accounts
  • Business Administration
  • Human Resources
  • Customer Service
  • IT

We will also consider speculative applications in other areas so long as they fit within our business.

We partner with a number of training providers and have a long-standing relationship with Derby College. In collaboration with Derby College, Ward runs an apprenticeship scheme as part of our bid to find new and upcoming talent. These roles can be anything between customer services, accounts administration and engineering roles.

The Ward Business Employer Academy with Derby College bridges the gap between education and the workplace and to better prepare students for the world of work. With the BMRA (British Metals Recycling Association) we participate in the Trailblazer scheme which is a bespoke training and apprentice scheme aimed at offering student’s key skills to work specifically within the metal recycling industry.

Both the Employer Academy and Trailblazer scheme are great opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience and develop key skills in the metal and waste recycling industry which will offer them a great future within an industry that perhaps had not previously considered.
