Ward makes top 20 of East Midlands’ businesses

Derbyshire based metal, recycling and waste management specialist, Ward, has been named in the top 20 businesses in Grant Thornton’s 2018 East Midlands Top 200 report.

Ward ranked 19th in the East Midlands top performing businesses and 4th in its home county of Derbyshire, based on financial performance, growth and sustained profit.

The fourth-generation family business and has quadrupled its turnover in the last 10 years. It has continually invested in waste management, processing and recycling innovations for all waste materials including metals, plastics, wood, confidential waste and hazardous materials from construction and land remediation.

The last 12 months it has seen Ward invest more than £1million in upgrading its Chesterfield waste recycling facility. It has also opened a dedicated deep sea dock at Immingham Port to increase its metal processing and export capacity to well over half a million tonnes of metal per year.

Ward’s Finance Director, James Balfour, said: “Ward Recycling (now branded WARD) is proud to be recognised as one of the top 20 performing businesses in the East Midlands. And, being fourth in Derbyshire is something special indeed for us locally.

The East Midlands Top 200 Report analyses the financial performance of the 200 businesses in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire that have delivered the greatest, sustained profit growth between 2014 and 2017, to provide the region’s only in-depth study into the East Midlands’ fastest growing companies by key sector and perfor-mance indicators, and deliver a barometer of overall economic performance.
