We are recruiting a Weighbridge Operator to join our team at our new Nottingham site.
This is a key administrative and operational support role responsible for managing vehicle movements, accurately recording weights and ensuring all associated documentation is completed in line with company procedures and environmental regulations.
The Weighbridge Operator is often the first point of contact for drivers and visitors and plays an important role in maintaining efficient traffic flow, accurate records and professional site standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the weighbridge system to record inbound and outbound vehicle weights
- Accurately input data into the site operating system
- Produce weighbridge tickets and associated documentation
- Verify material descriptions and ensure correct coding
- Liaise with yard operatives, Scrap Inspectors and site management regarding load queries
- Direct drivers safely in line with the site traffic management plan
- Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes
- Escalate discrepancies, non-conforming loads or documentation issues
- Handle general administrative duties related to site operations
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all paperwork complies with environmental and duty of care requirements
- Maintain accurate records for internal audits and regulatory inspections
- Follow company procedures relating to hazardous or restricted materials
- Support adherence to site permit conditions
Health, Safety & Site Standards
- Maintain awareness of vehicle movements and yard activity
- Follow site Health & Safety policies
- Ensure drivers comply with PPE and site rules
- Report hazards, unsafe behaviour or operational concerns
- Maintain a clean and organised weighbridge office
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in an administrative or weighbridge role
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident IT skills and ability to use internal systems
- Good communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
Desirable:
- Experience within recycling, waste or logistics environments
- Knowledge of waste transfer documentation or scrap grading terminology
