We are looking for a Non-Ferrous Site Operative to join our team at our new Nottingham site. This is a hands-on operational role supporting the efficient processing of non-ferrous metals and ensuring materials are handled safely, compliantly and in line with production targets.
You will report directly to the Non-Ferrous Supervisor and play a key part in maintaining site standards, quality control and operational throughput.
This role would suit someone with experience in metal recycling, waste processing or industrial environments who is comfortable working both inside designated processing bays and outdoors as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, grade and process non-ferrous metals to maximise recovery value
- Identify different metal grades (e.g. copper, brass, aluminium, stainless steel)
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles and containers
- Maintain housekeeping standards across processing bays and yard areas
- Support stock control and correct material segregation
- Work to daily production targets set by the Supervisor
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures at all times
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE
- Report hazards, defects or incidents promptly
Development & Training
Initially, the role will focus on manual sorting and processing duties. There will not be machine driving responsibilities at the outset.However, training may be provided to operate a Forklift Truck (FLT) in the future to support development within the role and broader site operations.

- Adhere to company Health & Safety policies and site-specific risk assessments
- Follow Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure environmental compliance in line with site permits
- Support continuous improvement in site safety culture
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience working in a recycling, waste or industrial environment
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual and physically fit
Desirable:
- Basic knowledge of non-ferrous metal grades
- Forklift licence (not essential)
- Previous experience within a metal processing environment
