Statement: Ward vehicle at Tollerton

”We are aware on Wednesday 14th July one of our vehicles was involved in a traffic incident under the testing bridge on Tollerton Road in Nottingham.

A detour was in place due to roadworks which meant the driver had to take a route which would not normally be used with this type of vehicle. The load on the vehicle was covered, secure and had sufficient clearance height to go under the bridge. However, there appears to have been an obstruction hanging from the bridge which connected with the load and caused the vehicle to become wedged for a short period.

Thank you to the police, fire service and the recovery team for their swift and helpful assistance to enable us to free the vehicle and return it to the depot. We can confirm that the driver and vehicle are safe and well and there is no damage to the bridge.

We want to reassure our colleagues, clients, partners and local residents that Donald Ward Ltd, trading as Ward, is committed to the highest standards of quality and safety and follows strict procedures for driver and vehicle training as part of the FORS accreditation scheme. A full internal investigation is taking place. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to other road users during this short period.”
