Ward supports waste management at the ‘Weekend of Wheels’ car show

Ward weekend of wheels

Ward, the Derbyshire-based metal and waste recycling specialist lent its support to the first ‘Weekend of Wheels’ car show in July, by providing skips and waste collection to the organisers.

As one of the sponsors of the event, Ward provided skips to collect rubbish from the campers, guests and vendors during the three day festival dedicated to American, Hot-rods, Classics, Bikes and Trucks with, a weekend of camping in a car themed atmosphere.

During the weekend there was a ‘Shine and Show exhibition, an Auto Jumble Sale of car parts, a car cruise, horseshoe and ‘Cornhole’ tournaments and live entertainment from local Nottingham bands including The Crag Rats, The Fockers (featuring ex members of ShawaddyWaddy), plus the Unforgiven, Smokin’ Gun and The Mandarins.

The event was organised by veteran car show organiser Attila Csorba and it was the first camping weekend for the car club Coffee N Cars, who have been together three years. Attila said: “Ward provided the skips for the rubbish from the campers, guests and vendors. They were very professional and helped out immensely during the event. Without their help we would have struggled to put the event on at all.”

Other sponsors included JB Tool Hire who provided power and lighting, with MFN providing the PA sound system. Three charities were also supported over the weekend including Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes who were there to raise the profile of the work they do in the region and signed up two new volunteers over the weekend. Through donations, a lemonade and cake stand provided by the Pitt Family and selling merchandise, Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance raised £114.25. Aid2Gambia raised £95 towards its target of £15,600 towards getting its Ambulances back working in The Gambia, having already raised £10,600 to date.

Donald Ward, Commercial Manager at Ward, said: “We were keen to help get the event off the ground. It’s a great family event with plenty of entertainment, food and exhibitions to keep everyone interested. We’re glad we were able to support the club with their waste management needs and help to keep the site clean.”

Thanks to the success of ‘Weekend of Wheels’, Coffee N Cars will be running its next camping weekend at MFN on the August 25th 2019 which is free to visit or only £10 to camp. Visit the club’s Facebook page for more details.
