Ward scores a shortlist hat trick in Business Masters Awards

Midlands-based metal recycling and waste management specialist, Ward, has been shortlisted in three categories in the second Business Masters Awards with BusinessDesk.com.

The Ward team has again been selected as finalists in the “Family Business”, “Investment” and “Large Business” categories and are hoping to retain the titles of “Family Business” and “Large Business” following its double win last year.

The shortlist for the East Midlands Business Masters was revealed in early January, acknowledging the achievements of businesses from across the region.

Donald Ward, Commercial Manager at Ward said: “We are really proud of the team to be recognised for the second year running. A very positive start to what we hope will be another successful year. As double winners at Business Masters in 2019, it would be a fantastic accolade for Team Ward to be lucky enough to win again.”

“In the last 18 months we’ve been shortlisted for 18 awards. We’re so proud that the team’s hard work in growing our metal, recycling and waste management services is being acknowledged in this way.”

Ward is an ambitious and innovative fourth generation family business, which has grown over the last 70 years from a single site local scrap metal dealer to a multi-site metal recycling and waste management specialist, operating globally.

Over the past five years annual turnover has increased 40%, with a significant surge in 2019 of almost 20%. The permanent workforce and its fleet of modern vehicles has also doubled over the same period. Significant investments include plant and materials handling equipment to increase processing capacity and expand metal export capabilities in the form of cranes, material handlers and a new pre-shredder.

Sam Metcalf, editor of TheBusinessDesk.com and chair of the judging panel, said: “Ward’s undoubted credentials as one of the East Midlands’ most dynamic businesses shone through at our judging session and it was virtually impossible not to shortlist them. We’re delighted that they continue to support our Business Masters Awards and wish them all the best for the big evening on 12 March.”

Winners of the East Midlands Business Masters, sponsored by Press for Attention and The Wilson Organisation, will be announced at the black-tie awards dinner on Thursday, March 12, at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Nottingham.
