Ward, the Derbyshire-based metal, recycling and waste management specialist, is celebrating double award success this month thanks to TheBusinessDesk.com’s East Midlands Business Masters Awards.

Over 200 business leaders, owners and advisers came together at Nottingham’s Crowne Plaza, for an evening dedicated to the achievements of regional businesses doing incredible things. The Ward team was presented with ‘Large Company of the Year’ for 2020, retaining the title from the previous year.

In addition, Ward’s Operations Director, Donald Ward, took home the highest accolade of the night, the Ambassador of the Year Award. Voted for by the judging panel, the Ambassador Award recognises the contribution made by an individual in putting the region on the map and leading their area of a business.

The judges complimented Ward’s continuous growth across all its sectors. They were impressed the firm’s commitment to sustainability and ongoing investment and innovation in improving metal recycling and waste management processes, to reduce waste to landfill.

From over 150 entries, the Masters judging panel selected the finalists in 13 different categories honouring businesses of all sizes, from all over the region. Ward was recognised as a finalist in three categories including ‘Large Business of the Year’, ‘Investment’, and the ’Family Business of the Year’ categories.

Sam Metcalf, chair of the judging panel and editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: ” “Ward has shown once again that it is the leader in a very strong field with these award wins. The company consistently excels and for our judging panel they were head and shoulders above the competition. I’d like to congratulate Donald and everyone at Ward for these latest triumphs.”

On the joint award win, Donald Ward, Operations Director said: “We can’t believe it! This is amazing. So proud of the team for all their hard work. To be recognised for the second year as the best Large Company of the Year at the Business Masters Awards is a fantastic honour and credit to the sustained growth and investment we’ve made over the past year. Our new metal shredding equipment, the launch of textile recycling service WARDRobe and continued expansion of our metal export capabilities at Immingham dock are all helping to build continued growth.”

”On a personal note, this is really unbelievable. I’m proud to be an Ambassador for our family business and our region, but that is exactly what it is – a big family, so this award is dedicated the extended family at team Ward. We couldn’t achieve what we do without you all. Thank you to the Business Desk team and the judging panel. A great night all round.”

These two awards take the total won to 10 in just 18 months for Ward, having previously been shortlisted for 21 awards and winning Family Business of the Year 2019 – Central and Midlands Region at the National Midlands Family Business Awards, as well as the double wins at the Derby Telegraph Business Awards including Company of the Year and Employer of the Year 2019.
