WARD Coronavirus Update (31/03/2020)
We all find ourselves in challenging circumstances right now. Our number one priority continues to be the safeguarding and care of our employees, our local communities, contractors and, of course, to reduce the impact from the Coronavirus outbreak for our customers and suppliers.
While remaining open to serve our business customers and to provide critical support and essential services to the waste industry, we have taken the decision to scale back operations reducing the number of our employees working out of each site including standing down some of our operating fleet. Those employees that remain in work are instructed to follow all government advice.
Additional resources are being put in place to increase hygiene and reduce social contact for all working employees. Strict travel restrictions are being implemented and employees are working from home where possible.
Our Customer services team is working remotely to support all customers through normal communication channels.
Our Commercial waste teams are continuing to supply services to essential sectors, including regular wheelie bin and other waste collections.
Our metal recycling team continues to process material in order to supply UK steelworks, which are in turn suppling key industry with raw products. We also continue to process and separate wood waste for recycling into biomass for energy production.
We are monitoring the situation carefully and are reviewing circumstances on a daily basis. This is a fast-moving situation and we are working closely with customers and suppliers to mitigate risk and ensure we can support key industry.
Thank you to everyone for their ongoing support during this period.
