Job Description – Accounts Assistant (Opteco UK Ltd)

Job Title: Accounts Assistant (Part-Time) Hours: 16–24 hours per week (flexible across Monday–Friday) Location: Ilkeston (office-based with potential flexibility)

Overview of the Role

Opteco UK Ltd is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

This is a key role within a growing organisation, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting supplier and customer transactions, and assisting with core accounting processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider finance and operations teams to ensure strong financial control and efficient processing.

Key Responsibilities

· Processing supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner

· Preparing and processing supplier payment runs

· Supporting credit control activities, including chasing outstanding debt and maintaining aged debt reports

· Managing and processing employee expense claims in line with company policy

· Performing supplier and bank reconciliations

· Handling fixed asset invoices and maintaining asset records

· Managing contra entries and intercompany transactions where required

· Assisting with month-end processes, including accruals and reporting support

· Resolving supplier and internal queries professionally and efficiently

· Maintaining accurate financial records within accounting systems (e.g. Xero)

· Supporting continuous improvement of finance processes and controls

· General administrative and finance support as required

Skills and Experience Required

· Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a purchase ledger or similar finance role

· Experience using accounting software (preferably Xero or similar cloud-based systems)

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including basic formulas and data handling)

· Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively

· Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

· Experience in credit control or cashflow management (desirable but not essential)
