Ward, the Midlands-based metal recycling and waste management specialist, has once again partnered with Treetops Hospice Care and Maple Tree Care tree surgeons to help raise money by supporting the annual ‘Treecycling’ scheme.

The Treecycling project provides an excellent fundraising opportunity for Treetops Hospice Care in Risley, Derbyshire, when many other of its usual events and activities have been put on hold. The scheme also gives people the chance to recycle simply and responsibly by having trees picked up from their home in return for a donation to the charity. 

Treetops Hospice Care provides nursing care and emotional support for local people with illnesses such as cancer, Motor Neurone Disease and heart and respiratory disease. It also supports carers and families, with all services provided free of charge, with funding largely reliant charitable donations and fundraising events.

Laura McWha, Business Relationships Manager at Treetops, said:

“Treecycling is a fantastic way for the hospice to raise vital funds during this really difficult time. When booking in your Christmas tree collection, you are able to choose from a number of donation options from supporting one hour of Hospice at Home nursing care to a full overnight stay. Then you get your tree collected by our volunteers during the second week of January.”

Ward will be providing skips, Maple Tree Care will be responsible for shredding the wood and both businesses along with many others will be supporting by giving their time, providing vehicles and signing up as volunteers.

Last year over 900 Christmas trees were collected, raising over £10,000, from across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and recycled as part of the recycling initiative.
