Robinson Structures complete construction of three new steel frame buildings for Ward Recycling

With an excellent working relationship, Robinson have been able to offer comprehensive advice to Ward Recycling throughout the build process. This included working with Ward on the design and layout of office space and micro-rib wall cladding alternatives.

• The first building to be constructed was a 1000 square metre structure standing 15.5 metres high. This acts as a sound barrier to help minimise noise levels.
The building is used for the storage and recycling of non-ferrous metals and includes a first and second floor office area.

• Adjacent to the new non-ferrous metal recycling building is a new gatehouse building, constructed with identical cladding to ensure a consistent appearance.

• The third and final project completed by Robinson was a new 750 square metre waste building with a height of 12 metres to increase storage capacity. The roof and walls were clad using 40mm insulated panels leaving the front gable end open for access.

Since Ward acquired the Chesterfield site in 2015, these developments have formed part of a multimillion-pound investment. This particular site is mainly used for the recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as steel, copper, aluminium, zinc, stainless steel, cast iron and lead with over 120,000 tonnes of waste material being recycled each year at the Chesterfield site alone.

As well as improving the working environment for the team at Ward, the new state of the art facility and buildings will help in minimising waste to landfill, enabling them to pass on the savings and to offer better value waste and recycling services in the Midlands.
