WARD LGV Cat C Driver (Class 2)

Ward have a number of exciting opportunities for experienced LGV Cat C Drivers to join our professional driving team based at our sites in either Ilkeston, Swadlincote or Chesterfield.

As an LGV Cat C (Class 2) licence holder you can drive one of the following WARD vehicles.

  • Skip Lorry
  • 8 Wheeler Tipper
  • Roll-on Roll-off (RORO)
  • 5 tonne

We pride ourselves on the standard of our fleet of vehicles which are either brand new or up to 5 years old.

The Role:

You will play a key role in our business transporting materials from our customers to our processing sites. It is here that materials (metals and waste) are processed and transformed into reusable materials before being transported again on their journey.

You will be part of a team of over 100 driving professionals all committed to doing their part in environmental sustainability.

The role consists of the following duties:

  • Communicating with your Planner and following the schedule for the day
  • Liaising with customers and clients on site and maintaining good relationships
  • Conducting thorough pre-start vehicle checks
  • Reporting any vehicle defects
  • Following company Safe Operating Procedures
  • Taking care of your vehicle
  • Upholding Ward company values and brand image
  • Completing daily paperwork

Essential Requirements

  • LGV Cat C Licence (Class 2)
  • Current DCPC Card
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Tachograph/Digital smart card operation

Working hours and pay?

Working hours will be approx. 50 hours per week (40 hours basic) and a ‘Welcome Bonus’ of £1,000 is payable after 6 months for new drivers who join our team.

We offer a competitive hourly rate with enhanced overtime rates.

Start times are between 4 am – 6 am and agreed at interview.
